About

Hello!  I’m Pam.  Nice to meet ya!  I’m married, have three children (two boys and one girl) and live in New York.  The end!

Just kidding.

I’ve recently reached the mid-life point of my life, and left the thirties behind.  I miss the thirties, I hate the mid-life point, but being in my mid-twenties again would be even better.  Since I don’t own a time machine,  I guess I’m stuck getting older and learning to like it.   Forty-one really isn’t old, but let me tell you, it’s a good introduction of what is to come.  And it ain’t looking promising people!

My husband and I have been married for sixteen years, and our oldest is fourteen, our middle child seven, and our youngest is three.  Talk about a gap.  Blame it on my ovaries.  They are unpredictable and sluggish.  But my last little surprise three years ago was my daughter.  I waited a long time for her and I think I’ll keep her!

We live in Upstate New York, where I have lived all my life, and where we will most likely always live.  It’s a good thing I like all four seasons, because we get them to the extreme here.  I couldn’t imagine living somewhere where there was no Fall or Spring.  Of course remind me of that when we are shoveling ourselves out of wicked snow storm  and I am wishing I lived in Southern California.

I’m pretty quirky with my likes and dislikes, and very eclectic in my tastes when it comes to something I like, such as movies, books and music.  I LOVE to read and spend almost every free available moment with my nose in a book.   Yet I don’t have a favorite genre.  If it’s a captivating story, I like it.  Which could mean I’m reading anything from Charlaine Harris to John Grisham.  Or Jodi Picoult to Christina Dodd.  It all depends on what mood I’m into.

My choice in music is no different.  I’m absolutely an 80’s girl, since that was not only the best era ever, but also the one I spent my formidable years growing up in!  So if you were to grab my mp3 player you might find me listening to all the big hair bands from the 80’s, along with all the punk rock and Madonna songs that were big back then.  But you could find me listening to more current music.  Sometimes I even know about a song or band before my 14-year-old son does.  He hates that, but I think it’s fun!  You may even find me listening to some classical music here and there.  I love sticking my ear buds in and getting what I need to get done around the house.  Like reading, music takes me away from the real world for a while and puts me someplace a little more enjoyable at times.

My taste in movies are similar to all my other tastes.  I love all the “Rat Pack” Movies from the 80’s with Molly Ringwald, Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez…Sixteen Candles, St. Elmo’s Fire, and of course, The Breakfast Club.  Don’t even get me started on Steel Magnolias.  I could recite that entire movie from start to finish!   But, I also love Sense and Sensibility, The Shaw Shank Redemption, Bridges of Madison County, Forrest Gump…and the list goes on.

I have a, sometimes, sarcastic sense of humor, and sometimes, people don’t get me.  Which is okay.  If you know me well enough you know what to expect.  I love to laugh, I love to eat, and I love to cook.  Sometimes.  I love to cook when I get to do it “peacefully”, which is not very often.  I do enjoy cooking with my children…at times.  But, when I’m trying to do something more labor intensive, I tend to like to be alone, with my earbuds in my ear and cooking in peace.  It doesn’t happen often.

I have a good sense of humor and love to laugh.   You probably don’t want to ever fall in front of me because I will probably be laughing too hard to help you up off the ground.  And trust me, it’s not because I am so graceful that I think someone else falling is beneath me.  Not at all.  If there ever IS an opportunity to fall, trip, or just basically make a fool out of yourself, it will be me doing it.   I think I could write a book of my embarassing moments alone.  They happen almost daily to me, and seem to be happening more as I get older.

Other than that, I’m a pretty boring person.  I keep wondering when the time will come that I will finally grow up.  Considering that I’ve already lived away half of my life expectancy (that’s scary to realize), I’m thinking that day of maturing will never come.  Guess I’ll enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Dear Pam, I love how you are an 80’s fan and a huge movie buff. I also am one of those people who lived in NY for a while and dreamed of living in Southern California when it was snowing in NY. I actually did move to Cali when I left NY and southern california to be exact. You are not missing anything, just so you know. The weather was nice, but there is nothing like the east coast, in my opinion. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your site! Best Wishes, Gabriella
